Degussa HPP - LATI S.p.A
distribution agreement PEEK
LATI S.p.A., thanks to international
agreements, has been established as a leader in
the thermoplastic H.P. market.
LATI S.p.A., has recently signed an agreement
for the distribution of the Poly-Ether-EtherKetone
(PEEK) polymer of Degussa GmbH of Düsseldorf.
The product, whose commercial name is VESTAKEEP®,
will be distributed by LATI to the markets of
South Europe i.e. France, Italy, Portugal and
Spain.
The agreement, which
came into force on 1st November, will contribute
to amplifying the offer of this super-polymer
so allowing customers interested in the product
to choose from more than one source of supply
of the basic polymer.
The VESTAKEEP® products of Degussa GmbH are
currently available in two viscosities and reinforced
with glass fibres, carbon fibres, graphite and
PTFE; further grades will be offered in a few
months.
In addition to the distribution of these Degussa
products LATI SpA in accordance with its historic
aptitude, is ready to develop and produce compounds
based on PEEK (the commercial name being LARPEEK)
which, elaborated for specific customer needs,
will contribute to integrating the range of VESTAKEEP®
of Degussa GmbH. In this ambit, one can find
coloured versions, special self-lubricating and
dissipative/conductive ones as well as those with
a high percentage of charge/strengthening for
superior mechanical performances.
Furthermore, to assist customers in the difficult
development of the application in PEEK, LATI SpA
puts at their disposal technical services and
moulding design softwares, as well as its laboratories
for testing and trials which conform with the
most varied operative conditions and main international
standards.
PEEK (rightly considered among the top thermoplastic
materials) is characterized by an exclusive profile
of incomparable properties:
- suitable for continual
application at temperatures of 250°C
- excellent mechanical
properties, which are maintained even at high
temperatures
- excellent chemical
and hydrolysis resistance
- excellent dielectric
properties
- intrinsic self-extinguishing
(UL94-V0 even at low density)
- good resistance to
radiation (X-rays, gamma rays…)
- excellent bio-compatibility
(classified USP Class VI)
- easy processing (moulding,
injection, extrusion (film, tubes, semifinished
products), compression, coating of cables
etc.)
